Family Friendly Volunteer Opportunities in Scottsdale

With the holidays right around the corner, many of us think of how fortunate we are and remember that there are many people in need around Arizona. A great activity to do with your children this holiday season is to volunteer as a family. Your kids will feel great knowing they have made a difference this year. Here is a list of family-friendly volunteer opportunities in Scottsdale:

1. Go to a nursing home. Old folks sometimes don’t have family visiting them, even around the holidays. Brighten their day (or maybe their whole month) by going for a visit with your kids. Play games, eat food or just talk to them. They are guaranteed to be delighted by your kindness. There are many nursing homes in Scottsdale that would love visitors.

2. Volunteer at a food bank or soup kitchen. Serving food and talking to people in need can be such a heartwarming experience. It really makes you appreciate all that you have. They will be so grateful for your benevolence.

3. Donate toys to a children’s hospital. No one wants to be stuck in a hospital during the holidays, especially not kids. Many children at the Phoenix Children’s Hospital live in poverty and will not receive much for the holidays this year. You can donate new toys to the hospital. Your child will have fun picking out toys for a child in need and you will bring a smile to a child’s face this holiday season. If your children are 16 or older, they are allowed to volunteer at the hospital and interact with patients.

4. Volunteer at an animal shelter. Your kids will love spending time with animals who need homes this season. There are dozens of animal shelters in the area that are always looking for help. You can donate items they need or come to play with the animals. Many of the shelters also offer fostering programs so you can help a furry friend in need until it is adopted.
