Spring is my favorite season in Scottsdale. The city is bubbling over with fun things to do and the weather is near perfect.
Rent a bike and get pedaling. There are bike rentals all over Old Town. It is an easy, fun way to see the city. My favorite biking path is the Indian Bend Wash. It is an easy paved trail meandering through the green belt.
Cactus League Spring Training continues through the end of March. The Scottsdale Stadium, in South Scottsdale, is home to the San Francisco Giants. Talking Stick, in North Scottsdale, is the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies. Life is good when you are watching a baseball game with friends in the sun. I’ll be at the Giants game on Saturday!
Spring is the perfect time to explore the hiking trails and parks available in Scottsdale. The wildflowers are blooming and the desert looks lush. Two of my favorite hikes are Pinnacle Peak Park and Tom’s Thumb. Pinnacle Peak is a very easy hike. It is well worth going to the first lookout and rest stop for an elevated view of Scottsdale. You can see Black Mountain in Carefree, the Continental Mountains in far North Scottsdale, Four Peaks to the East and the whole McDowell Mountain range. If you want to just try it out and ease into hiking, it is only a 15 minute walk from the parking lot to the first lookout. The whole trail to the end and back is about 2 hours for more serious hikers.
It’s already swimsuit time in Scottsdale. Lounge by your backyard pool and enjoy the warm sun, or head to a resort pool. Several of the best resorts in Scottsdale sell day passes and welcome visitors who just want to lounge by the pool.
Check out all the local water activities. Scottsdale is close to Saguaro Lake and Lake Pleasant. Rent a sailboat, go paddleboarding or water skiing. There are plenty of options close by.
Chill and relax on the patio of your favorite restaurant. Soak up the sun (or stars) while enjoying a cold beverage and a delicious meal. My favorite outdoor patios all just happen to be at golf courses. I highly recommend Phil’s Grill at Grayahwk, Isabella’s at Grayhawk, Brittlebush at Kierland or Dynamite Grille at Troon North.
