Scottsdale’s New Bike Share Program

Brightly colored green and yellow bikes have recently shown up throughout old town Scottsdale. The “LimeBikes” are taking off like wildfire. Residents and tourists alike have been using the popular bike share program since November. Hopping on a bike is a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather and have some fun. If you are in south Scottsdale you have undoubtedly seen these bikes. They are suddenly everywhere!

This is how it works: Just download the LimeBike app and set up an account, use the GPS to find the closest bicycle, scan the code on the back of the seat with your phone, unlock it through the app, and then off you go. When you are done just lock the bike up anywhere and finish the rental on the app. You will be charged directly through the app. The bikes are only $1 per 30 minutes so it is definitely an inexpensive thing to try. Many tourists are finding it an easy and low-cost way to see more of Scottsdale.

Scottsdale is the first city in Arizona to use the LimeBike program. It is in 11 other cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, Dallas, and Seattle. This is different than other bike share programs in the valley because it is a “dockless” system. You can pick up and drop off the bike anywhere. You don’t have to return it to specific locations.
