Many homes in Scottsdale are decorated with thousands of beautiful lights this time of year. It is such a fun December activity to load the family into the car and drive around different neighborhoods, admiring the lights. Take it a step further this year with creative ways to see Scottsdale holiday lights:
The McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is perfect for an inexpensive family outing. Train rides around the property are only $3 per person and children under three are free. The train ride will show you a magnificent winter wonderland of lights. There is also a beautiful carousel which offers rides for $2. For a great photo op, Santa will be at McCormick-Stillman all season. The park officially opens on December 12th. Don’t miss the tree lighting ceremony at 6:30pm on the opening day.
For a more adventurous light-viewing experience, Desert Splash Adventures offers charter flights leaving from the Scottsdale Airport. You and eight other guests can enjoy a light show like no other– from the air! Bring a warm blanket and hot cocoa and experience the lights of the Valley. You will see Camelback Mountain, Squaw Peak and the Cardinal’s Stadium on this 45-minute aerial escapade. The plane fits up to nine passengers and is $1,800 for the flight.
If you have always wanted to fly in a helicopter, why not experience the holiday lights at the same time? Also departing from the Scottsdale Airport is Arizona Helicopter Adventures. You and up to two guests can enjoy a 35-minute flight, soaring high above the Phoenix metro area. This is another unique way to see the dazzling lights this holiday season. Flights are $460 for a 35-minute night tour.
