If you thought you would have to stay inside your Scottsdale home all summer long, think again! This Saturday, the Phoenix Zoo is kicking off its “Winter in July” event in conjunction with Fry’s Food Stores. Scottsdale families can beat the heat in 20 tons of snow alongside their favorite zoo animals.
The celebration will take place at the Phoenix Zoo from 7-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20th. Kids of all ages can play in designated snowy play areas, with separate areas provided for toddlers and older children. There will also be spinning targets set up for you and your children to pelt with snowballs. Even the animals will be “chilling out” with several tons of snow and frozen treats such as fruit-sicles, blood-sicles and fish-sicles.
Other activities for kids will include jamming with Radio Disney and splashing through the Leapin’ Lagoon and Yakulla Caverns play areas.
A percentage of the proceeds from admission and concession sales at this event will go to the 100 Club of Arizona, an organization that supports the families of firefighters, officers, and other public safety workers.
Scottsdale offers many exciting ways to take advantage of the beautiful sunshine and warm weather. Even with temperatures soaring over a hundred, Scottsdale residents are enjoying fun in the sun. There are so many family-friendly recreational spots nearby to Scottsdale, such as the Phoenix Zoo, Papago Park, and Desert Botanical Gardens.
