The PGA returns to Arizona this week with the Accenture match Play Championship. It will be held February 20-24 at The Golf Club at Dove Mountain. The top 64 players in the world will compete for the coveted Walter Hagen Cup.
This is the second stop in Arizona for the PGA Tour. The players ranked in the top 64 qualify for this tournament. However, Brandt Snedeker (ranked at number 4) and Phil Mickelson (ranked at number 9) will not be participating. Shane Lowry and Fredrik Jacobson will be taking their spots. Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Luke Donald, and Louis Oosthuizen grabbed the top seeds in their respective brackets while defending champion Hunter Mahan received a sixth seed in Woods’ bracket.
It will be an exciting tournament to watch and the weather should be great. Sunny and warm like the typical winter day in beautiful Arizona. It is no wonder so many PGA players choose to buy homes in Scottsdale.
If you prefer to watch it from home, Golf Channel will be televising the event for all five days. NBC will also have coverage on Saturday and Sunday.
