Phil Mickelson, three-time winner of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, will be returning this year to defend his title. The Scottsdale favorite officially committed last Tuesday to play at the long-anticipated event, adding to an already impressive roster of players that will be coming to the TPC Scottsdale next week.
With the addition of Mickelson, fans look forward to seeing five of the Top 25 ranked players in the world during the 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open. The field will also include Ian Poulter, Brandt Snedeker, Keegan Bradley, and Hideki Matsuyama. Another Scottsdale local, Bubba Watson, is expected to compete in the tournament as well.
Mickelson is not only a local favorite but also the Waste Management Phoenix Open’s leading money winner with $3,694,782. Last year, he finished four shots ahead of Brandt Snedeker, claiming his third Waste Management title. This will be his 25th Phoenix Open, and Scottsdale fans are especially eager to see how he performs in the coming event.
The Waste Management Phoenix Open, often called “The Greatest Show on Grass,” is known to be one of the most exciting and unique PGA Tour tournaments in the world and brings in crowds of over 500,000 spectators each year. The event runs from Monday, January 27th to Sunday, February 2nd. Don’t miss out on Scottsdale’s best annual golf event!
