With the recent construction of the Brown’s Ranch Trailhead, conveniently located in Troon North, more Scottsdale residents are heading to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve to explore the vast network of award-winning trails. The new Brown’s Ranch Trailhead is currently open for public use. It features a parking area for 200 vehicles and 24 horse trailers, as well as restrooms, drinking water, ramadas and an interpretive exhibit. The equestrian staging area at the trailhead also includes a ramada, watering trough and hitching rails. This trailhead introduces visitors to around 55 miles of new trails. The recently opened Tom’s Thumb Trailhead is another popular hub for hikers. Take the Tom’s Thumb trail up to the McDowell Mountain Ridgeline or choose from a number of new, scenic trails.
