In the last several years, foreclosures controlled the real estate market in Scottsdale and Phoenix. As foreclosures rose, Phoenix and Scottsdale home prices nose-dived. They were one of the key indicators to determine the health of Phoenix and Scottsdale’s housing market. Today, that’s not the case.
Foreclosures have dropped to levels not seen since 2007. In January, lenders in Phoenix foreclosed on approximately 1,300 homes. In comparison, during the years of 2009 through 2011, monthly foreclosures regularly hit 4,000 with 5,000 being touched upon time and again.
Foreclosures are no longer the driving force in the housing market for Phoenix or Scottsdale. The number of foreclosures seem to be hitting new lows on a regular basis.
