The Desert Highlands Club is well known for its desert course designed by Mr Jack Nicklaus. The Club members have just approved a plan to update the irrigation system of the course and renovate the bunkers. The irrigation enhancement project involves a full system replacement of all pipe, sprinkler heads, wiring, and controls. The entire 5.5 miles of cart paths will also be replaced. The bunker renovation will include new shapes, sand, liners, and drainage.
The Club is being careful to do the majority of the work in the off-season. In the summer of 2018, the putting course will be closed for construction but none of the golf course will be impacted. During the summer of 2019, the work begins on the main golf course. At least nine holes of the golf course will be open for play at all times. At no time will the entire golf course be closed.
The Desert Highlands members are being assessed for this renovation. They have 3 options to pay (1) $9600 lump sum, (2) $800/month for 12 months, or (3) $100/month for 120 months.
