This past week, I was interviewed by The Globe and Mail, the national newspaper in Canada. It was a pleasure to share my expertise about the real estate market here in Scottsdale. Many people from Canada choose Arizona for their winter homes because of our wonderful weather. Despite the fact that the Canadian dollar is losing value, we are still seeing many Canadians choosing to buy homes in Scottsdale. The current exchange rate is now 80 cents to one U.S. dollar. In the 70’s, the exchange rate was much worse so it is not really affecting home purchases. I also discussed the home prices in Scottsdale and what you’re money can really buy you in Scottsdale. It might be more than you think. A two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo with a heated pool and spa can easily be bought for $200,000. A detached 2,500 square foot home with four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a private pool can be purchased for around $500,000. Scottsdale is a great area to live in.
In the second article with The Globe and Mail, I talk further about home prices in Scottsdale. Even though Scottsdale home prices are slightly more expensive than other Phoenix suburbs, Scottsdale homes are a steal compared to those in large cities in Canada such as Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary. Many neighborhoods in Scottsdale also have access to golf courses, a benefit that large cities don’t have.
