Arizona has much lower taxes, lower cost of living and more affordable homes. Californians moving to Arizona is one of the busiest migration patterns in the USA. Between 2010-2018, over 500,000 people moved from California to Arizona. There were 68,000 people moving that direction in 2019 alone. That is 750 people per day moving from California to Arizona.
The steady economy is also a driving force behind the migration. The young work force recognizes the opportunities in Arizona for high paying jobs. Those young professionals can get a job and buy a house much easier in Arizona than California. The cost of housing in California is a major impediment to buying a first home.
