Most locals know to give jumping cholla cacti a wide radius. Still, one golfer recently playing at Ancala Country Club seems to have forgotten that bit of Arizona wisdom while retrieving his ball. Paramedics arrived to find the man covered in spiny jumping cactus.
Ancala Country Club and many other Scottsdale golf clubs utilize the natural desert vegetation in their courses. While this enhances the dramatic beauty of many golf courses, it can also create some thorny situations. Remember to stay safe out there. It’s better to lose your ball and take a penalty than to lose a fight with a cactus and take a trip to the hospital.
