Barrett Jackson is back and in full swing in Scottsdale. Crowds have flocked to Scottsdale from around North America to enjoy the event. Over 350,000 people attended last year. My office is just a block from the action so I can barely get out of my parking lot for the next week. My office parking lot is actually closer than several of the official Barrett Jackson parking lots. The extra traffic and crowds in my neighborhood are well worth it because Barrett Jackson is one of my favorite events in Scottsdale.
What is Barrett Jackson? It is part car show, part auto auction, part people watching. I was there last night and I had a GREAT time. I love cars and it is amazing to see some of the rarest and exotic cars ever produced. I particularly like the classics and every year it seems to get better. I saw beautiful cars, watched the frenzied bidding for the first ever Ford Mustang “Bullitt” (it sold for $300,000), did some shopping in the vendor area, and enjoyed a great meal… a good time all around. If you have never been, I highly recommend it. Saturday is the big money night and several cars will be auctioned for over a million. One car this year is expected to go for over $10 million.
Barrett Jackson is part of what I call the Scottsdale trifecta. Spring in Scottsdale to me means Barrett Jackson, the Phoenix Open and Spring Training. I plan to attend all 3 events this year.
