The brand new Tom’s Thumb Trailhead in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve opened this week to great excitement. The trail is 3 miles South of Dynamite on 128th Street. You can now hike to the north reaches of the McDowell Mountain with the 5 new miles of multiuse trails. Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the trailhead on 
Thursday with a day long celebration. Activities included volunteer led hikes and demonstrations. The new trailhead features plenty of parking with shade ramadas and restrooms.
