North Scottsdale’s beloved Heard Museum North, located at The Summit along Scottsdale Road, will be vacating its current location at the end of May. Though the lease expires May 31, museum galleries will be closed to the public as early as April 1, and the Café and Gift Shop will close on May 1. The Heard Museum North has been a treasured gem for many residents of Troon and other North Scottsdale communities.
Museum Director James Pepper Henry has expressed his great appreciation for the ample support the Heard Museum North has received from the City of Scottsdale, private donors and Donohue Schriber, owner of The Summit.
The Heard Museum North has had a substantial presence in North Scottsdale for the past 15 years. Originally located in el Pedregal at The Boulders Resort, it was moved to The Summit in July of 2007. The museum thrived during a time of greater economic prosperity, but since then conditions have not been ideal for the long-term sustainability of the establishment.
Programs and events that have already been scheduled for the coming months will continue at the Heard Museum North. These include the Fashion Flash Sale on January 26-27, Nights at North, held on Wednesday evenings January 29-February 19, the Southwestern Tribes short course on Mondays from March 10 through March 31 and the Spring Shop Sale taking place April 4-6.
The Heard Museum intends to continue its outreach with Scottsdale and the rest of the North Valley through various partnerships, cultural festivals, community groups, and other programs.
